  • Proper idle adjustment - V4-115

My new to me motor seems to idle a bit low, will cut off as I try to slip into forward/reverse so I think I need to adjust the idle but cant find any reference as to the proper way to do this. I have noticed that when the idle control is in neutral the control cable linkage is not making any contact with the throttle lever...of course if I shift the throttle up a bit where contact is made the boat idles better...

I did pull the carbs and cleaned, set the mixture screws at 5/8 turn...

    Ideas?

The idle speed adjustment screw is on the top carb throttle linkage. Set idle to 800 rpm's in neutral and should hold about 600 rpm's when in gear.
