salt deposits

The age old problem , how do you disolve and clean away build up of salt deposits in the cylinder block and other internal part of the cooling and unseen part . Is there something that can be put in the flushing water to prevent this from happening ???
Just got the heads and exhaust plate off and couldnt believe what i was seeing , pressure valve was hardly working will have all the thermostats etc out tomorrow and exspect the same there as well .

There is products available to use when flushing motor but I havn't used them enough to tell how good they work.
