yami 150 lower unit

to remove the lower unit on a 1996 150 salt water series motor, how do I disconnect the speedometer cable/tube?

There is an connector in the hose on the front of lower unit housing.

I just did my first water pump repair today and I had to disassemble the speedometer tube on my 2000 C115. It probably is very similar to yours. Look for a bulge(about two inches) in the tube about three inches away from the housing in the lower unit. Mine had two tie wraps over the bulge area - your tie wraps may be missing. Grab the tube at both ends of the bulge area with both hands and twist in opposite directions, back and forth, and the two pieces of tubing should break loose from the connector. Once the tubing breaks loose, you should be able to pull the two pieces apart from the connector.
