F115 water5 pressure control valve

if i'm not mistaken this is the water pressure control valve for the 2002 F115
p/n 6G5-12416-00-00

i was wondering weather it would be a good idea to disassemble this valve every year or two? The reason i ask this is i have seen on other forums concerning larger Yamaha engines where this valve that they refer to as the poppet valve needs to be cleaned every so often to maintain or correct proper water pressure due to the accumilation of sand etc unseating valve.

Yes that is the pressure control valve and should be cleaned when doing a water pump replacement along with thermostats.
