Remote trim switch

Looking to install a remote trim switch in my boat in the bow. How hard is the Yamaha remote switch to install? part number 688-82563-10-00
Does it hook up to the binnacle or do I have to take it all the way back to the motor. 18' lund / F150 yamaha.

I would like to see it done directly on the engine. I am not sure if there is coupler that can be added to harness the wires.
Check back on the engine to see if the coupler exists.

Please do not just splice into the wires as this can lead to serious problems.

Here is the quote from the Yamaha accessories page: "Designed specifically for Yamaha outboard engines, it places trim/tilt functions precisely where you want them. Connects easily to main wiring harness using the leads provided." But it doesn't tell you the length included with the switch.

So unless someone has installed or purchased one before...how does one know.

Hmm, I wonder if maybe the 10 designates 10 feet?
Is there other switches avail that have 15,20 and 25 in place of the 10?
