A few weeks ago I posted a problem which began at WOT...a significant stutter and loss of power. When I backed off the throttle I could regain a smooth rpm (4000 or so), but when above 5000 rpm the missing returned.
eventually I left the throttle in WOT and the stutter continued for a few seconds before the engine died (only yards from the boat ramp).
A quick test at the ramp confirmed NO SPARK.
Back at home a multi tester found the Charge Coil to have no continuity. All other wiring and components tested as they should.
I received and installed the Coil yesterday...tested the motor today.
The motor runs better than it has in a long time. No missing at all. I used to always have a miss when the motor was cold. It was 35 degree water and air temperature today and it started and ran great at the start.
Makes me wonder...was the Charge Coil was beginning to falter a long time ago?
