1986 V6 Special exhaust adapter

I'm replacing the shift rod in my '86 V6 Special and I needed to drill into the exhaust guide to free the powerhead. The part number is 6G5-41137-00-94 and it looks lke it was used on 1984 thru 1994 150HP to 225Hp motors. Any ideas on where to look for a salvaged one?

Barring that can someone confirm that the part is still available from Yamaha?

i may be mistaken but i THINK you only have to drill in the SIDES of the midsection to shear the block bolts....

but it does look like it is available.

JB, you are correct in your advice but conventional wisdom didn't work for me. I actually drilled as close to the powerhead as I could first but there was still too much bolt shank left. The powerhead was still stuck. ( I had broken 3 of the long bolts).



I wound up using a long shank bur to grind through the bolt shanks to within 3/4" of the powerhead.



Even then it still took some effort to break the powerhead free.

I guess in boat terms $260 isn't too bad for the part but I have so many other parts that I will need to replace that it would be nice if I could find a bargain on a used part.
