  • 1994 sws200 problem with rpms revisited

regarding my problem of my motor going into safe mode i followed boats.nets suggestion of grounding the pink wires on my thermal sensors, after grounding both sensors NO alarms went off. while i had the cowl off i removed the oil sensor on the motor and still NO alarm. two months ago i serviced the cooling system, replace water pump, replaced both thermostats and both thermal switches.

with the engine running i still don't get an rpm reading. i also noticed when i have the key in the on postion two out of the three bars are blinking and with the engine running only the first bar is blinking.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks, stoney

Remove the buzzer from key switch panel and connect to battery to if it works, if not replace it. Recheck wiring going to tach. Was the engine oil tank oil level above the bottom line?

engine oil tank was full, i removed sensor and turned it upside down and back and saw the float move, still no alarm. i will check the alarm operation on ignition switch. question, would a inoperable alarm cause the slow down mode?

      thanks, for your help.

a big thanks............. to boats.net for troubleshooting my motor. the alarm was inoperable due to corosion on the pink and yellow wires. after repairing the two wires alarm worked and my tach now works, we took the boat out for a test ride and everything is fine again.........THANKS AGAIN TO BOATS.NET for all the great advice...........
