  • Yam 200 Problems starting

I just purchased a new Yamaha 4 stroke--sold my 175 2 stroke.. I have a problem starting the new engine. Many times I turn the key and get what seems like a dead battery. I took it back to the dealer who installed the engine and he took out the terminal that went from the battery to the engine. That helped, but it still sounds like the battery is dead when I start....BTW, I installed two new batteries. A 105 amp and a 75 amp. I need to turn both batteries on to start the engine. Any help from the board would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The minimum battery requiremnts are 512 cold cranking amps, 675 marine cranking amps for that engine and you probably need to do a voltage drop test on the whole starting circuit, it sounds like you may have bad battery cables or if the battery's are mounted a long ways from engine may need to put larger size cables in it
