  • Trim Tilt wiring

From the trim sensor I have a black and pink wire. These go to a connector with a green/red and a green/ black. Pink connects to green/red, black nothing coming out the other side of connector. On the same side that the pink and black go in is a gray which connects to the green/black. If I am reading the wiring correctly the green/black connecting to the gray is low oil alarm?
Should there be a wire going to the black? It just stops at the connector.
The gray wire is disconnected from the gray/black ( before connector) which when I hook it up and put key on sounds alarm. Low oil? Oil transfers fine and motor operates with no problem.
Thanks in advance! I hope this doesnt sound to confusing?

What model motor do you have?
Do you have Yamaha digital gauges?
Are you having a problem with something not working?

150TXRB 2003 carbs. Trim position not changing on gauge (digital). Replaced trim cam and cleaned switch. Still same issue. Started tracing the wires back to connector or plug.( see first post for colors) Thats one issue.
Oil gauge also flashes that oil is low. Tank is full. Motor operates fine, transfers oil manually and auto. Also noticed that low oil alarm is disconnected. When I hook it up it goes off. As long as I keep boat tank full its fine but would like gauge to work just incase. Can these 2 problems be related? I was going to check the main oil tank sensor next.
Sorry if this sounds confusing but it is to me.
Thanks for the help. greatly appreciated!!

Did any of the warning system, indicator lights or gauges every work or are you just setting this up? Sounds like the two 4 prong connectors on engine are connected to each other and not connected to harness going to gauge.

I just purchased beginning of summer boat and motor. Used it all summer no problem. My main concern is the low oil warning. Owner did tell me oil gauge and trim gauge not working. Trim gauge I am not to concerned about. Oil warning I am. Trim gauge all are lighted top one flashes. Oil left bar solid middle blinks right nothing.Alarm will sound if it is connected. Sensor in the main tank bad or bad wire? Bad ground since trim and oil acting up?

          Thanks Again!!

You are 100% correct!! Got hold of a good wire diagram and looked at it again. For some reason the connectors coming in were connected together. Put them where they belong and everything thing works fine. Why was that done?
Thanks again without your help I still would be banging my head!!

If you like I can email you some information on that gauge, just post a private message with your email address. The gauge may be set wrong or missing a wire harness.

The two off white colored square connectors on engine are to connect wire harness going to gauge and should not be connected togather if gauges with warning indicators are not installed.
