  • misfiring problem

Hi guys, i have a 95 25hp that i bought about two months ago i thought it ran fine since the day i got it... one fishing trip pulled up anchor started the motor and i sounded different but in a good way i put it in gear and it ran like a raped ape but only for 20 or so seconds then it ran like i was use to it running... i played with it for a hour or so and finally figured out how to make it run on all three cyls. but only for 20 seconds, the only way to make it run right is if the motor is off i have to pull the choke several times then start it up runs great then misfires after 20 seconds or so every time.... i have no idea what to do... so far i have cleaned the carbs, replaced plugs, fuel pump diaphram, new carb gaskets, fuel line and bulb... please help......

Pulling choke with engine off is only closing choke plates so it shouldn't have any affect on engine. Sounds like loosing fire on 1 cylinder.

for some reason pulling the choke does the trick... what do you think would cause me to lose fire to the #1 cyl?

It could be pulsor coil, CDI, or ignition coil causing it to loose fire.

i have replaced the coil pack to the #2 cyl. i just dont understand why it only runs right after pulling the choke with the motor off for 20 or so seconds, if it were a bad coil or cdi how can it run on all three cyls at all?

Checvk the choke plates are not sticking close when pushing choke lever back in.

Disconnect choke linkage and choke 1 carb at a time while running to see if picks up rpm's.

when i check the choke plates one a time the motor starts to stall on all three... i checked the timing and its of by +6 deg. could that be my problem if so how do i adjust the timing? when i hooked the timing light to the very bottom plug wire the light would skip so im pretty sure thats the carb that missing...
