Have been having probs with motor last few trips. Got low on oil in the reservoir back in march and ever since the electronic oil gauge on the console flashes. The gauge has three bars that normally stay lit up; since the problem started only one bar stays lit and the middle bar flashes. While on plane, if the last bar begins flashing, the alarm will sound and the motor will power down to idle. I can turn the motor off then restart and the alarm goes away. However, if I try to plane too soon, the alarm will sound again. My oil reservoir is always at least half full. Is it possible the lift pump in the reservoir is going bad and not keeping the emergency reservoir on the motor full, or do I have a sensor going out, or something more serious? Any other possibilities?

The middle bar indicates that the oil tank in boat is low on oil, if tank is full it may be a bad oil level sensor or wiring at boat tank. As long as the middle bar is on oil will not transfer to engine tank and when engine tank gets low the warning buzzer will sound.

I performed some minimal diagnostics yesterday evening on my problem. My oil pump on the boat tank appears to be working properly when engaging the emergency switch on the back of the motor by filling the engine oil tank. No hoses are kinked. This might be a dumb question, but on the multifunction tach gauge, which oil tank is it measuring? If I unplug the harness going to the engine oil tank then the alarm will sound and it affects the oil level gauge. When I replug the harness the oil gauge will read low even while the engine oil tank is full to the top line. The part number for the tach is 6Y5-8350T-81-00. Reason being, I don't want to order the wrong oil level sensor assembly due to the no return policy on electrical parts.

The middle bar or low oil indicator is from oil tank in boat and oil will not transfer to engine oil tank.
