Lost steering yesterday on way to Stellwagon at 4:30 am..... At wide open throttle the boat started going in circles, It was pitch black out.
I shut motor off and radioed a friend of mine and he turned around and came back for me to supply light. The bolt that holds the hydraulics to the motor had snapped in two. I had nothing on board to secure the motor to the hydraulics,
it looked like the day was a wash up... My friend gave me a snap ring from his bouy, after ten minutes of hammering into place, it worked, the steering had some play but I was able to turn. So we fished all morning caught two tuna but did not get to land them. My friend on the other boat caught three tunas and was able to land one.
My problem is that I can not find a diagram of my hydraulic connection to the motor. I can fix it if I only knew exactly how it was attached, All I have is a bushing and a snapped bolt, I don't know if something else went there like a shaft or spacial connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
