Voltage regulator model # values for 115 hp

Model c115TXRU year 1996 rectifier has 6.2.1 stamped on it.

I ordered wrong part from a 1997 model year c115TXRV. I misread the V as a U.
The wrong "new" rectifier has a 4.6.1 stamped on it.

Can I use use it it my question.

There wre a lot of changes made in the electrical system between 96 and 97 and you will need to exchange it for 96 (6G5-81960-A0-00) regulator.
