Don't know if anyone can help a newbie but, I've recently acquired a P-45 to power a small inflatable, also recently acquired.
The outboard wouldn't run first time out so I've changed the condenser, points and coil/ignition lead and cleaned the scale out of the carb and it starts first pull!
My question is this. There are four small holes on the shaft, from which I assumed water would pump when it was running, instead I get exhaust gas/smoke and a small spray of water. Everythign I've read up 'til now on the 'net has conditioned me to expect a stream of water being pumped out but I suspect this motor isn't like that, would I be correct thinking this?
I assume that other motors have one small drilling somewhere on the cooling water circuit from which the water streams, correct? If so, this one ain't gonna do that!
I would be grateful for any feedback or comments as I want to use the motor but don't want to ruin it first time out
