    hi folks;

    hoping someone can help me.

    I just put a 1992 yamaha 30 hp on a 16 ft skiff. this motor had controls other than steering. I bought a new steering kit and now have realized i do not have the linkage from the control cable to the motor. can anyone tell me if there is an aftermarket part for this? i have looked at many websites and it appears as though i need a combination of parts that will be in excess of 250 bucks.

    can this be correct, if so i think i got screwed on my motor purchase

    Look at number 1 in drawing, should be all you need.

      ok - i bought that part. it connects to the steering cable fine but what does the opposite end connect to?

      most motors have an attachment from the engine with a hole in it to which this end would attach

      this motor has a bracket, almost like a handle, and there is a hole in it but no fittings which would tie it to the linkage arm

      i must be missing a part, please help!

        Don't panic. The opposite end connects to the engine just above the tilt tube. You should see a hold for the bolt for the end of the connector arm.

            ok - that looks like a part that will attach to the handle i described above. will the part come with the necessary bolts to attach to the handle

            I also wonder why the engine schematics/diagram doesnt show this part in the "bracket 1" diagram

            it looks to me as though it would be shown attaching to part number 56 in that diagram
