Hey to all newbie here!. I have a 2005 Skeeter Z22 Bay with a 225 v-max. Tonight I was Running the engine with engine muffs and got a temp alarm after about 10 mins of idle. Is this normal? Will the muffs not provide enough water to keep engine cool? I had a great stream from side of motor and good flow through exhaust. I shut down engine instantly and let water continue to run for about 10 mins. Have I hurt my engine?

They will overheat on water hose, can't get enough water. Engine is probably ok.

Before you make any plans to be out for the day, or a fishing trip, check it out. Twice I tried to run my F225 on muffs, and twice I cooked the water pumps, I have since picked up a tank. never again on the muffs for me, too expensive.

I cooked an impeller housing on the muffs on my 225 also. I couldn't get it to take a prime. It never did get water out of the indicator though. I replaced the impeller, and the metal and plastic parts of the housing. I used a piece of glass and some course lapping compound to flatten out the bottom of the housings and now I don't have a problem getting the pump to prime.
