  • yamaha surge and wot problem

I have twin 1994 250txrs yamaha's. My left motor is topping out at 5200 and starting to surge back and forth from 5200 and 4500. My right runs strong to 5800. This started happening this year. last year they both ran strong to 5800. I run them off the same tank so I think that cancells out dirt in the tank. I am assuming either rebuilding the carbs or new fuel pumps or both. I also replaced the tps and adjusted both with dvm. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you set TPS after disconnecting throttle link arm to allow throttle plates to close completely

you may want to replace the lp pumps as general maint but if theyre bad you see much unspent fuel out of prop.

When you say lp pump do you mean low pressure pump? The only fuel pump I know of is the 3 on the side of the engine. Is there any other?

I had the same problem w/ my 1996 250hp. I replaced all 3 lp pumps (on the side of the engine) and that fixed the problem. hope this helps....
