Yamaha low water pickup lower unit swap

Has anyone tried this yet? I know the complete lower units will swap with the addition of a stud kit, but will the internal parts swap from older style lower units to a low water pickup housing?
Local dealers have given me estimates on component swaps based on flat rate books but no one knows for sure if all the parts will interchange.
