'03 F9.9 Yamaha, stalls out
I have a '03 9.9 4 stroke with less than 10 (ten) hours running time. Original issue was would not start unless I blocked the air intake with my thumb (effectively choking the engine) and pulling the recoil starter at the same time. Very difficult to do. This engine has no exterior choke .
Using Yamaha parts I replaced the fuel strainer, plugs, carburator repair kit, diaphram, starter set. All went back together fine.
Started on first pull in the water tank. Ran fine. Let it cool and tried it again, Started on the first pull.
After a couple of weeks I tried it again, back to the original issue. Now I have to cover the air intake as before, but now will not run unless I continually wave my thumb back and forth across the air intake. If I take my thumb away, it stalls.
Help! I really wanted to use it this year!
