  • 225 SWSII overheat at idle

My 225 SWSII is newly rebuilt with new thermostats,pv valve and waterpump but at idle it overheats--alarm in the control goes off. Engine is idling at about 500 on the MF tach--If I bump the idle to 700 there is no overheat alarm.

What should this engine be idleing at??

Are there other things that could be causing this?

That engine should idle at 700 rpm's in neutral. Are you running in water or on hose?

I will check it tomorrow in the water in neutral. In gear it is at 500 when it is warm, just seemed a bit low. with it overheating at idle in gear, it just seemed a bit low on rpm.

      H20SKE...

      Thanks for any help.
