So in an effort to get my boat that has been sitting back up and running, I put about 4 ounces of seafoam in a gallon of gas and ran it out at the ramp. Smoked to high heaven but ran decent, got her to idle for a bit. Never ran purrrfect though. So my thought was to get it out and run regular gas/oil mix and some startron through it.
Got her on the water, ran decent. Was able to idle the whole way out to the bay through the no wake zone. Right at the end of the no wake she starts stalling.
I mess with it a bit and she fires up and I go to take off. Give it half throttle and not a lot of response, but you can tell it is building up. Finally she starts running like a raped ape. Fell just like old times. Had her running real good fo rabout 20-30 minutes, then decided to head back b/c I was running on an auxilary tank and was at the 1/2 mark.
On the way in she bogged down wouldnt run at high end. She would only run at about 1100 rpms and basically idle back in.
So Im bummed, yet again.
Get home, and sea foam her again (spray in carbs before starting and while runnin). She runs awesome again on the muffs. I was able to rev it up, drop to idle, go in and out of gear no prob.
SOOOO if you are still reading hear is the question(s)...
Do you think she just got some gunk that the sea from broke loose hung up while i was on the water and it dislodged after sitting for a while on the way home??
I dont understand why it would idle and rev up in neutral, but once you are in gear (which could be a pain) it wouldnt rev up
also, i noticed the starboard side cylinders were cool and the port side cylinders were much warmer, not hot to burn hand, but pretty warm. (thermostat issue?)
sorry for the LOOONG first post, but I am just trying to avoid $600 in mechanic fees for carb cleaning.
