  • 00 40HP Four Stroke - idles fine but dies at around 2500 rpm?

    Sup guys.

Just picked up a boat with a 4/00 build Yamaha Four Stroke 40HP outboard.
The thing starts up fine but will choke if I don't warm it up a bit. Anyways... It idles fine, it also goes in forward and reverse with little throttle. However, when I go any higher than 2500 rpm, it will just turn off and there is a beep sound.

The gas in the tank is kind of old, I would assume. Could this be a problem? I haven't picked up a manual yet but will probably order one soon. In the meantime, any suggestions on what to check?

Probably dirty carbs, may need to clean and sync carbs.

I removed the cowl and checked/replaced the fuel filter. After I pumped the primer bulb and noticed a slight spray of fuel coming out of the fuel pump. Looks like the diaphragms. So i found the part numbers through the yamaha site. But it looks like I need to buy each section one by one and piece it together? Anyone know if they have a fully assembled unit that I can just purchase?
