  • Rectifier/regulator questions

    Hello!

I recently bought an Yamaha outboard motor in Brazil, the model is F20 BMHS, 4 stroke. I use the engine in small boats for fishing.

I recently purchased a rectifier and regulator, the parts number is 6AH-81960-00, which was correctly installed. Here begin my doubts:

    1. I use the motor with small boats for fishing, and I do not will need a battery all the times. Can I use the motor with the rectifier connected to the motor, without a battery connected with the output of the rectifier? Or I need to disconnect the cables of the rectifier then, isolating it to the motor?

    2. Can I use a hand light, connected directly to the output of rectifier, without using a battery?

    Sorry for my poor english.
    Thak you now.

Just running for a very short time with them disconnected is ok but I would keep them connected to a battery. No it wouldn't run a light, it would probably blow the light bulb.
