  • 2004 Yamaha 200hp OX66 and digital trim gauge

My Yamaha digital trim gauge is not working. The reading says maximum even though the motor is trimmed down. This happens when I turn on the engine. The gauge's other functions work fine except for the trim level.

Does anybody know if the gauge is malfunctioning and should be replaced, has electrical short or does the trim reservoir needs more fluid? I would appreciate any troubleshooting advise.

There is black plastic trim cam mounted on tilt tube that sometimes breaks. Look just under steering arm to see if plastic piece is broken.

I finally replaced the broken plastic trim cam & I'm glad it's only less than $3. The trim gauge is working now! (There's a metal one available now for $10)

I appreciate your advice. I have another question if you don't mind. What is your opinion about STAR*TRON GASOLINE ADDITIVE? Is it similar to the Yamaha Ring Free additive or is it better?
