  • Too High of idle after replacing exhaust tuner

    Hi everyone,

Did a little mod to my 90hp yamaha 2-stroke a couple of weeks ago...I put on a hydrotec exhaust tuner. Installation went fine, but now when I start the motor, and come down off throttle and into neutral, the motor is way too high in RPM. When I put it in gear it goes to about 900-950 which is above the normal setting of 800.

Here is my issue. Since all three carbs are linked, I should be able to turn the idle adjusting screw (next to the middle carb) down and get a lower RPM. Problem is, the stop screw isn't even touching the carb stop and the linkage will not travel further..

So...do I have to adjust each carb and then sync all of them? I'm stuck...

    Thanks

    Steve

    Disconnect the throttle cable....

Disconnect the throttle cable from the motor's link pin and make all linkage adjustments after its disconnected. Then adjust the throttle cable end so that the hole slides over the motor's link pin with no interference. The throttle cable end is adjustable just loosen the lock nut and turn it. Do you have a factory service manual? All the adjustments are detailed in there.
