  • Jack Plate Adjustment

I have a 1984 Yamaha 90 H.P. on a Pro Craft 1650 Bass Boat with a manually adjustable jack plate. My question is where should the jack plate be set in the begining, before you fine tune it? I bought this boat with the jack plate already on it. The main problem I am having is getting a hole shot, it is very slow to get on plane but top speed is fine, I know there is a possibility of the wrong size prop, but I would like some insight on initial settings on the jack plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....Ken

as a general standard you want your cavitation plate even with the keel, then for more performance, lift higher as long as you have enough water flow over intake.
