Analog Tach Wiring

I recently bought a 6y7-83540-60-00 analog tachometer and need a wiring diagram. Specifically , where does the yellow/red stripe wire go?

They connect to yellow,green and black wires at key switch. Yellow to yellow, green to green and black to black.

I would like to know if this same tach mentioned(6Y7-83540-60-00) would work correctly on a 1994 Yamaha VMax?

Is there an internel wiring difference in all the digital multi-function tachs available out there? My real question is if a yamaha tach plugs directly in to my harness, wire for wire, color for color, plug for plug, should it work?
