  • Won't Start, 75 hp, 2 stroke

Hello all, this is my first post.

I am trying to work out what is wrong with a 75hp 2 stoke, 3 cylinder yamaha outboard. i think it is late 1980's - mid 90's

It has been lying up for just over 2 years

i tried starting the outboard by putting power to the starter direct, am i correct in thinking i should get a spark? their is no spark i don't know what voltages or ohms i am looking for at the cdi or whether i should start with the pick up under the flywheel.

The engine turns freely and their is fuel - just no spark

Any advice is greatly appreciated as summer is almost here and i'd love to get out in the water soon. Don't suppose any1 has a schematic wiring diagram?

    Cheers

Make sure the main 10 pin harness is disconnected at engine. If no fire with harness disconnected then problem is on motor.
