electric choke ???

i have a 1997 150 PRO V. It is hard to start the first time of the day,after that i barely turn the key and its running.how can i tell if the electric choke is working ? i cant hear or feel it click when i push the key in.i have to crank and pump the throttle for a while the first start of the day.

just pull your cowl and watch the linkage as you either lift button or push key. you can undo the solenoid from the linkage to ensure it moves freely by hand AND the solenoid jumps out correctly. pull the center out and clean it, also make sure its getting 12v when activated.
