  • retrofitting '04 F15C (non-electric start) to charge boat battery?

I have a 2004 Yamaha F15MLHC (tiller sterring, non-electric start) outboard. It is used as a *****ing motor on a larger boat. I would like to find out if it is possible to convert this to charge the boat battery. This could be a potential life-saving feature.

When I purchased new, I remember the dealer telling me that it could be converted at a later date. I called the dealer this week and they said a kit is not available.

I may also use this on an aluminum fishing skiff at a later time (when I simplify my life) and battery charging would be needed and electric start would be handy.

    Thanks

There are no kits available. You can add a rectifier(6G8-81960-A1-00) to charge a battery but would require some wiring. You can buy all the individual parts to add elect start.

Thank you for your prompt answer to my question. The solution looks expensive, but at least it is possible.
