considering purchasing a aluminum boat with 115 yamaha not oil injected. Any problems worth noting on this engine ? Thanks

No not at all the 115 Yamaha is a very reliable engine -
I have a similar engine 130hp.
The only problem I have had in 6 years (about 300 hours) is a cracked gearcase due to corrosion on the locking ring behind the prop. This appears to be the only common problem on many Yamaha engines.
I had to have part of the case cut away a new section machined and welded in. Its done 50 hours since and still runs well. The only way to prevent the problem is to remove the ring regularly, clean, grease and replace it.
I would recommend it, it has never let me down, it still ran with the cracked gearcase, spark plugs are the only other part I have ever needed.
It will be getting new thermostats and impeller soon, but that is more routine servicing.
