Thermostat - part of maintenance schedule?

Does the thermostat need to be removed and checked as part of an annual maintenance schedule?

Engine is a 3 cylinder, 2-stroke 40HP used in sea water. Always flushed with fresh-water after use, new impeller, etc. Engine pumps water (strong tell-tale) with no signs of over-heating or loss of power.

Looks like there is a gasket there too, which I would suspect would have to be replaced if thermostat was accessed. Am I right in thinking - if it's not broken - don't fix it?

Yes I Change My Thermostats Every Spring It Is A $20 Part That Could Blow Your Motor. I Also Do Water Pumps Every Year

change the stats and the PRV when you do your yearly waterpumps to keep clear of overheat issues... CHEAP insurance.
