  • Water Senser/150 Yamaha 4 Stroke

    I have a 2007 Yamaha 150 4 stroke with 88 hours, digital gauges.

Motor starts properly and, while in neutral the alarm which indicates water/fuel problems activates. I cleaned the fuel/water filter on the front of the engine and also the 10 micron water separater on the boat between the primer bulb and the the motor. I could not visibly see evidence of water.

    All other diagnostics are normal:

The alarm continues to sound. Cannot get it to stop. I'm reasonably sure I do not have a water/fuel problem.

Engines runs properly at all speeds.

Do these sensors go bad or do I just not know the proper methodology to get it to shut off.

    Thanks,

    Bill

The water alarm is an intermittent buzzer and will go off when put in gear. If the alarm is still going off with no water present in engine fuel filter then the sensor is probably bad. These problems do need to go to a Yamaha dealer so a warranty claim can be submitted so Yamaha will address the problem.
