98 Yamaha..wide open throttle alarm

Hello,

Was looking at buying a motor..just wondering what people here think it might be? Perhaps a fuel restriction?

Its a 1998 Yamaha 90:
Motor was rebuilt about 2 years ago, also changed the H2O pump and thermostats. Runs good at idle but when runnning it at wide open throttle alarm does sound. Not sure what the problem is, maybe a wiring issue. Motor is being sold AS IS.

which model as it looks like the B model have oil tanks and C's do not.

I also assume there is no digital gauges to show the alarm?

the alarm is triggered by either low oil levels or overheat.

If the waterpump and stats were done correctly and RECently, you should then changeout the prv valve and lastly cleanout waterjackets.

was it primarily a salt or fresh motor ?
