One of my engines wouldn't start, i directly hooked up the batt. to the starter and got it to turn over and start,, but the engine knocked and wouldn't stay running. I checked compression and one cyl. is down to about 60 cold. the rest were good. I wonder if my crank would be damaged. The cyl that is down is the top of the engine on the right side, the one with the O2 sensor. I was having some injecter problems and fouling plugs previously to my bigger problem. should i get my engine rebuilt or buy a new power head? can i just do one cyl?

Replacing powerhead will probably get you back on water quicker. You need to disassemble the engine and determine what parts are damaged to see which way would be the best way to go.

turns out it was a bearing went on the crankshaft. i wish i would have just got a new powerhead!
