    Symptoms:
    1. Increasing oil consumption
    2. Smoking at start-up
    3. Heavy smoke at idle after last outing

    Checked:
    1. Main tank vent line to airbox. No oil in line, airbox dry. Main
tank stops filling at top line.
    2. Pump discharge amounts within specs at ea. line. Checked at
    carburetor.
    3. Found oil behind pump and in mounting recess in block. Seal
wet but doesn't appear to be torn.

Oil pump is original not updated model

    Questions:
    1. Does oil leaking past seal enter the cylinders? How?
    2. Is the seal available or should pump be replaced?
    3. Does replacement pump have everything needed to do swap?
    4. Do I have to replace anything else, eg. the driven shaft from
    the motor?
    5. Can an amateur do this?

    Many thanks, Hawk

It is probably the seal in oil pump. You would need to replace the oil pump. Make sure you run engine on a 50:1 oil premix after replacing oil pump until you can bleed air out of oil system. Order 6K7-W1320-00-00 oil pump kit and install it as per service manual.
