exclamation point on cowling

I have a 2003 HPDI 250. I got stuck in the mud this weekend (had to wait 15 hrs for high tide to get out) and I'm sure that the motor got hot while trying to get out. There is now a dark grey exclamation point that has appeared on the front top of my cowling. Has anyone ever heard of this? I plan on bringing the motor in for a checkup.

Dont know why it just showed up now but there is a sticker when brand new to let you know not to add oil to gas tank.The exclamation point is on the sticker. I just thought my cowling faded because the sticker was on too long.

I have an exclamation point on the cowling of my 2001-250 hpdi . It is a very faint stick located on the top towards the front. I thought the previous owner must have stuck it on there but it seems that it is a Yamaha thing. I would like to find out its purpose also.
