No power under load

1987 40hp. New carbs, new plugs, new water pump, just serviced. Will rev fine without a load but nothing with a load?

Check compression. Check that it has fire on all cylinders. Check carb synchronization and adjustment.

Thanks for the reply, turns out one plug was not firing.

had the same problem with my 90, kept losing spark on #2 cylinder but would idle fine and rev up but when you put it under load............no go! Turns out that the Stator is burnt so that may be another thing to check.
