External Fuel Filter for F200??

I have a 3 year old F200, with no external fuel filter. The internal fuel filter / water separator appears to be doing its job well - no clogs, and over all of last season it only accumulated about 1/2" of water in the cup. Does it make sense to add an external fuel filter? Or should I just leave well enough alone?

Yes I'm a firm believer that installing a 10 micron fuel/water separator filter will save you money down the road.
