I have a 2004 90hp motor that has a white residue that appears after the motor is run around the outer covering of what I think is the water pump. What is this white residue from? Is it harmful to my motor? It is only on a defined area of the lower part of the motor- no where else. I have pictures if anyone can look at them and help. I can take an SOS pad and remove discolored area, but it comes right back after I run it...Help! THANKS!

The Exhaust goes through that housing and it gets hot. My quess is that it bakes the minerals in water to housing.

I thought that at first, but it is in such a defined area that I don't think it's possible to be a mineral deposit. It is being run in freshwater. The "residue" appears right about the anti-cavitation plate...It happens even if I only run it for an hour or so. ??? Any other suggestions?

Freshwater can leave residue. You might get a local dealer thats familiar with your area to look at it.
