I have a 1999 130hp Yamaha engine and the muti Tach gauge was defective (showed E all the time). The part number was 6Y5 8350T-81-00. I replaced it with a 6Y5-8350T-82-00 gauge. The difference on the front of the new gauge is mode and set buttons on the front. After hooking up all the wires (which looked the same) the indicator shows RPM OK but there is a blinking temperature bar on all the time and the trim indication shows mid range when trim is all the way down. I also get engine time (hours when the mode button is pressed. what can I do to get the temperature indication bar to stop blinking.

After looking at the past remarks I realized that I had the same problems as another members with their gauges. The problem was rectified by putting the DIP SWITCHES on the back of the indicator to the correct positions. (which in my case was all three switches down) this solved all the indication problems. Many thanks to this forum.
