Yamaha -95- 250- Smoking / Power loss

I plan to change the thermostat and check the oil pump linkage per the September 16,2005 posting. However, I've had power loss on the port motor too. Could this be related to the smoking issue or another issue like the fuel pump? The port motor slows while on plane at about 3500 rpms and plays catch up. The starboard motor had to carry the load.

It could be running too rich on fuel. Ruptured fuel pump diaphragms, carbs flooding, leaking primer valves in carbs.
