Water in cylinder 6 on 200HPDI

When I was running back from offshore Sunday, I had to move the port throttle more advanced than the Starboard to keep the engines sync'd, also the fuel burn went up by 3-4 GPH on the port engine.

Now back home I pulled the plugs and found saltwater in the #6 cylinder. Compression is 100 psi.

Any ideas on what to look for?

Engines are 01 200 HPDI's with about 600 hours.

what is the comp on the others?
hopefully just a head gasket.

They are all 105 to 95

if you havent done it yet, pull the head and try to examine the gasket for blowby, rust etc...evidence of a leak.
do you rinse it regularly after use ?

I pulled the head and found the gasket cracked around the cylinder lining, I had to have the head machined, were it had worn away a bit of the head. Other side #1 cylinder was just about to start leaking as well, I had found a crack starting in the gasket, same place, around the clyinder lining.
I guess I will do the other engine as well.

Yes I flush each time, it doesn't appear to be a corrosion issue. Thanks Bruce

good to hear it wasnt anythin worse.
some mechanics will tell you when they look bad from the outside/corroded, its time to changem.
