Weird problem guys. This engine has always run perfectly, up until yesterday.
I noticed the fuel burn (via Navman) was much higher than normal. The engine also seems sluggish as if my tabs were all the way down, or something was dragging behind the boat.
I also had to give more throttle to get boat moving as cruise speed. At one point the engine kind of broke free, ran at higher RPM's. I panicked, threw it in neutral, then she stalled.
She restarted right away and came home under similar circumstances. (high fuel burn and sluggish)
I checked plugs and replaced. (old ones were fine, no metal filings, thank God !)
Took apart O2 sensor and it was relatively clean. No major carbon blockages. Transfer tube whole was clear. (cleaning it right now in Yamaha Combustion Chamber cleaner)
So what do you think? Could it be bad low pressure fuel pump(s)??
