My 1996 50 hp tiller occasionally develops a misfire condition at above 1/6 throttle. The plugs all look good. If I switch the number one and three plugs, it goes just fine. Until the next time. It always starts right up, and idles fine no matter what.
When it is in this misfire mode, I believe it is only firing one cyl, just by the severe shaking that it does.
Also, when I checked the fuel filter, I set my wrench down between the power head and the case, and got a spark. The wrench was touching a bolt head on the power head, and a bolt head on the tilt/trim switch wiring hold down bracket..
