50 hp Throttle linkage

I swapped out a '92 40hp 2 stroke for a '00 50hp 2 stroke and am having an issue with the throttle cable linkage. On the new motor (50 hp) it is set up so that the throttle cable PUSHES the linkage to open the carbs. My cable PULLS when you increase the throttle. I am backwards. Any ideas on how to flip the direction of the throttle linkage? Do I need to replace the controls?

do you use a 703 sidemount?

i have friends that use yam controls on mercs, and i THINK mercs are reversed also... tho ive never done it i THINK they can be switched by adjusting linkage inside the box.

703 side mount is the lever and control box? I'll take a look. Thansk for the help.
