  • Dropping a cylinder

Hi there I have a 1990 90hp 2 stroke. took it to an enginner last year after it started to drop a cylinder near to top speed..thot it was fuel related but this didnt help..the coils put out the right readings....when on the mufflers the engine ran ok..as soon as u put it on the water it spluttered its way up to 40mph but mostly on 2 cylenders..every now and then it would go to 3...any ideas

check all of the ground points, could be a plug but most likely your carbs need to be cleaned.
pull each plug wire while running, listen for the rpm drop, then choke each carb throat with your finger, listening again to find the issue. also if you have a quick disconnect at motor, replace or remove.
