Alarms on F40

I just installed a new F40 on my 13ft Wahler. I also used the 703 side control and the Digital Multi Function Gauge. Is there a way to check if the alarms like low oil pressure and over heat work? I assumed that there is a self check when you turn the key. I also had an extra 2nd black wire on the harnes between the 703 and Digital Multi funktion Gauge. It has a male plug and I don't know where it goes. Thank you, Gerhard

An additional question. Can the engine be trailered in the up position by just using the power trim. Will the engine stay up this way or do I have to use the pull/push knob to secure it?

secure it so there is less stress/pressure on the tilt ram.
