My 86 ProV 150 runs very well and starts right up when hot but I have to use starting fluid to get it to start when the motor is cold or warm. Any ideas would be appreciated.

make sure when you choke, that the butterflies fully close.
On my '89 pro, I pump up the ball, raise idler (703) and hold choke till it starts.
if you use the electric choke, make sure IT works correctly AND if you havent cleaned the carbs in a couple years.... do'em.

Your eclectic choke mechanism is probably out of adjustment. You can make the adjustment under the canopy on the right side near the front where the choke rod hooks on the linkage for the carbs butterflies. There is also a manual one under the front of the motor housing, the lever must be pulled all the way out..
Do you have a manual to go by for the minor adjustments?
